Collins Circuit 5 mile time trial
The five mile time trial around the Collins circuit traditionally marks the start of the Bann Wheelers calendar. The weather
was traditional as well for the start of the time trial season, with a strong wind blowing across the course, making the
uphill home straight a particular struggle. Several members of the club braved the winds to ride the course, and the results will be posted shortly.
The club would like to thank Ian and John Nevin for time keeping and Robert Kennedy for marshalling.
Next weeks event is a 10 mile time trial on the Kilrea Road, with Robert Kennedy and Robert McKinley to marshall.
Madden off to Flying Start
Last weekend Bann Wheelers rider John Madden got his Road Racing
season off to a great start. The All Ireland Time Trial record holder showed
he had the form to mix it with the best road men in the country. John rode to
a superb 2nd overall in the Phoenix Grand Prix event and was also first Vet
rider. Saturday past John rode the 1st round of Slanes Cycles Classic League
Race, one of the toughest events of the season, The Wallace Caldwell is a hard
fought 75 miles race with John finishing in 8th place.
With The Tour of the North just two weeks away, all eyes will be on
the big Ballycastle man.
